Packages
Installation Procedure
Here is the procedure to install Evans notation software.
Please read carefully and follow each step.

Download latest version of Evans installation package from Evans download page.

Create directory on your hard drive and unzip downloaded file in it.
Setup application doesn't work correctly from zip file.

If there is an old version of Evans installed, uninstall it first.
Uninstallation could be done from [Control Panel] - [Programs and Features].

Launch "Setup.exe".

Installation may ask you to install Microsoft runtime library.
If so, install it.

Follow the procedure on installer.
Usually just push "Next" button.
You need to activate Evans, or it runs as free version.
Free version has following regulations.

Printed sheet contains water mark.
-
Only 1 chorus is allowed to play back.
Also cannot use progression of music; no verse, no interlude.
Run Evans

Locate [Start Menu] - [Jazz Soft] - [Evans].

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, please right click on Evans icon and select "Properties...".
And then check on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" as follow.
Press "OK" button to store settings.

Launch Evans.
Activation Procedure

Close Evans, if it is running.

Locate [Start Menu] - [Jazz Soft] - [License Manager].

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, please right click on License Manager icon and select "Properties...".
And then check on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" as follow.
Press "OK" button to store settings.
You have to do the same thing on Evans icon.

Launch "License Manager".

Click "Activate..." button.

Type 20-digit license number.
Please remember that you can use license number for only 1 PC.

Click "Activate" button.

Open Windows Explorer and go to "C:\Jazz Soft\Evans\" folder.
You will see activation file with extension ".jaf".
Please send this file to us by e-mail.

We will register to our data base and reply you key file.
That file name will be "Evans.jazzsoftkey".

Copy key file to "C:\" folder on your computer.
If you installed Windows other than C drive, please copy it in the root folder of such drive.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 and UAC (User Account Control) is enabled, Windows may ask you for permission by doing so.

Launch Evans.
